We are looking forward to hosting you in Schaumburg, Illinois on October, 6, 7, & 8 for the 2023 Illinois State AFG Convention – Unity, Hope, Serenity…Steps Taken Together Lead Us to Recovery.

Convention Registration Desk

PLEASE NOTE – SEPTEMBER 25 DEADLINE: Mail-in registrations must be postmarked no later than September 25th and on-line registration also closes on September 25th.

Walk-in’s are welcome! Please note, in person registration fee must be paid by cash or check only.

On Friday, October 6th, the Registration Desk for the convention will be ready for you to sign in by 3:00 p.m. Convention Registration desk hours will be Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, 7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and Sunday – Closed. Room check-in for the hotel is at 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m.

Friday

Our first meeting starts at 4:00 p.m. Our evening features two speakers beginning at 7:45 p.m. We will hear from Ericka M. (AA) and Cathy W. (Al-Anon).

Saturday

Individual meetings will begin at 8:00 a.m. We have a panel session at 10:30 a.m. that will speak to the Traditions and Concepts. Our afternoon session begins at 1:00 p.m. with featured speakers Mike M. (AA) and an Alateen speaker (TBD). The evening will be filled with the banquet at 6:00 p.m. including raffles, countdowns, and our featured speaker, Barbara W. (Al-Anon). Entertainment will follow the main speaker with another great opportunity to practice our “Steps Taken Together”!!

Sunday

Our first meeting starts at 8:00 a.m. Our featured speaker, David E. (Al-Anon) will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Convention Fundraisers

Along with our on-site convention fundraisers, we will also be hosting a pre-convention Dinner Fundraiser on April 15th featuring speakers Jim H. (AA) and Colleen H. (Al-Anon), and a pre-convention Shirt Fundraiser.

Banquet Reservations

The Hyatt Regency has requested a banquet count no later than September 22nd. Banquet seating is limited so please register early. Seating is reserved on a first-come first-serve basis.

Hotel Reservations

The Hyatt Regency is holding a block of rooms for the convention at a discounted rate of $129 per night, until September 15th. When making your reservation, please mention you are part of the AFG Convention. The hotel reservation number is 888-421-1442.

If you are planning to attend, please book your room reservation and complete your convention registration as soon as possible. The number of rooms reserved impacts our preparations for this event.

Convention Amenities

Throughout the weekend an archive space, literature room and hospitality room will also be available.

The Convention Committee members have done a lot of work and had a lot of fun putting together a live, in-person Convention that will leave you feeling fulfilled, knowing you are not alone in this journey to recovery. We hope to see you there as we celebrate Unity, Hope, Serenity…Steps Taken Together Lead Us To Recovery!
